Where the forest meets the lake

Two private homes in the Arenal highlands. A resort taking shape around them.

We bought twenty-five acres at the end of a quiet road in the Arenal highlands. There is a forest next door with ten waterfalls in it. We are building a resort here, and two of our homes are already open to guests.

The resort is coming

On the twenty-five acres we are building a boutique hotel: a twelve-bedroom house, three six-bedroom bungalows, a pavilion for over fifty guests, a restaurant, a spa, a natural swimming pond, and a pool. It is being built for weddings, corporate retreats, and groups who want the whole place to themselves.

We'll let you know when dates open.

The family

Run by one family

A few years ago our family bought twenty-five acres at the end of a quiet road in the Arenal highlands, next to a forest with ten waterfalls in it. We did not entirely know what we were going to do with it. We are still figuring some of it out.

Since then it has become a family project in the literal sense. One of us handles the permits and the accountants in San José. Another picked out the tile. We fly down to decorate the houses ourselves before guests arrive, and we argue about paint colors over text message like everyone else.

When you stay here, someone in our family knows your name is on the calendar. That is the whole difference.
